He proudly serves on numerous boards\, including the Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce\, the Joint Economic and Community Development Board\, Read 20\, the River City Board\, UTC Chancellor's Roundtable and the Workforce Development Board. In 2015\, the Tennessee Association of Manufacturers awarded Mayor Coppinger with the C.D. Mitchell award\, and he has been elected into the Halls of Fame for the Chattanooga Fire Department and Hixson High School.
